Happy are the owners of Battlefield 3 Premium – they don’t have to rack their brains about whether or not to buy a new add-on. But if you are not one of those, I invite you to take a look at this brief (although I’m not sure of anything) review.
I was waiting for Aftermath because my curiosity was tormented by the Scavenger mode, and I was terribly interested in what was hidden behind such an intriguing name. What I saw didn’t make me very happy, and there are certain reasons for that.
The new mode is, in fact, the usual “Conquest”, but unlike the latter, each player appears on the battlefield only with a pistol and a perk, while the rest of the weapons are scattered around the map in the spirit of old-school online shooters like Quake 3 or my favorite Unreal Tournament. But the implementation here is quite strange.
Firstly, given the size https://noidverificationcasinos.co.uk/review/gxmble/ of the maps, there are very few weapons. You can run for five minutes and still end up with only one gun, I’m serious! Because of this, all players are instantly divided into two parts: those who have already managed to pick up a normal weapon and those who have not yet. Needless to say, this introduces some imbalance? Even if you started the game for the first time five minutes ago, you can quite successfully kill opponents with standard weapons, after all, in most modes, skill has a greater influence, not weapons, here, whatever one may say, a pistol is objectively weaker than a machine gun, shotgun or assault rifle.
The second problem related to weapons, it seems, is not really a problem, but at certain moments it can become relevant: to pick up a weapon you need to hold R. Well, you know, while you’re trying to pick up a weapon, you can already be killed ten times. This happened to me only once, but I only played for about two hours!
Well, and one more very tiny detail: what the hell does the level above the weapon mean?? I mean, if it says “Level 2” above a shotgun, then it has an optical sight attached to it, and if it says “Level 1”, then nothing is attached to it? And anyway, why put an optical sight on a shotgun?? Okay, let’s not develop this topic, otherwise, I feel like the experts will stuff me with evidence in every possible place.
On the other hand, a crossbow appeared in the game, and it’s safe to say that Battlefield 3 has become at least 15% cooler. Why not 30%? Because a crossbow is still not the same as a bow. One way or another, it’s worth purchasing this add-on, even if you didn’t like any of the other innovations. Those who like to lie down in a dark corner will be delighted. Finally, a weapon has appeared that kills with the first shot, regardless of which part of the body you hit. The only thing you have to pay is the reload time – it’s simply monstrous.
Literally three words about the new cards. They’re nothing like that.
Bottom line. It’s hard to say that Aftermath is bad. The idea of a new regime is not bad, but it should have been implemented a little differently. In its current form, you can spend a couple of hours on it and then just forget it. And don’t forget – when you get tired of other modes, you can play “Scavenger”, it doesn’t cause irritation. And I repeat: the add-on is worth buying if only for the crossbow alone. This is truly the best thing that has happened to Battlefield in a long time.
I did not consider all the innovations, for example, I did not say anything about new technology and achievements, so I do not consider myself in the right to give any assessment.
